FOUNDER and MASTER TUTOR
Philip Ernst is a native New Yorker. He graduated from Stuyvesant High School and matriculated at Harvard, where he received a B.A. cum laude in Statistics and won the Edward Eager Memorial Prize for excellence in creative writing. He also holds an M.A. in Statistics from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, where he presently is an advanced Ph.D. candidate in Statistics. He currently resides in Manhattan. Philip is a winner of the Penn Prize for Excellence in Teaching, Penn’s most prestigious teaching award for graduate students. His areas of expertise include subject matter in chemistry and physics, writing, all levels of mathematics, and all levels of standardized testing. In his free time, Philip loves jogging in Central Park.

Our tutors are known for their patience, enthusiasm, and ability to break down complex information into manageable, understandable, and relevant learning bites. All tutors are trained by Philip Ernst as well as by a licensed, practicing psychologist in ways to reach, motivate, and create individualized learning strategies to maximize each student’s success.
Elliott graduated in 2007 from the University of Texas at Austin with a B.A. in Economics. He proceeded to attend Columbia Law School, where he received his J.D. in 2010. While at law school, Elliott realized his true passion was in teaching economics, so he embarked on the Ph.D. program in Economics at Columbia in Fall 2010. Elliott's teaching spans all levels of economics and mathematics. In his free time, Elliott plays drums and sings backup vocals in a Beatles cover band.
Emily attended Fieldston and Hunter College High School and graduated from Stuyvesant High School with honors in English and Physics. She earned her B.A. with honors in Literature and Visual/Environmental Studies from Harvard University, and is currently an MFA candidate at the Graduate Film Program at NYU Tisch. Her short films have screened at Sundance, the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), IFC and Rooftop Films, among other places. Emily is an expert tutor for the SAT, ACT, SSAT, ISEE, SHSAT and many SAT Subject Test exams.
HEAD TUTOR OF MATHEMATICS AND SCIENCE
Ben graduated summa cum laude from Brigham Young University, where he majored in Physics and earned a minor in Mathematics. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Physics at Columbia University. Over the course of his undergraduate and graduate career, Ben has enjoyed the opportunity to tutor many students in biology, chemistry, physics and in all levels of mathematics. In addition to studying and teaching, Ben loves playing the piano and cello, running, hiking, and being a devoted husband.
Ivy grew up in New York City, where she attended the Bronx High School of Science. After graduating with honors from the University of Virginia with a B.S. in Architecture, she worked for architectural firms in Jakarta, Indonesia and New York City. Ivy is currently pursuing her Masters in Architecture (M. Arch) at Columbia University.
